Kanzashi is a world-famous Japanese technique for creating flower crafts. This craft will be a wonderful decoration and will highlight a woman’s style. Original products are made from natural silk, but other fabrics can also be used. For example, crepe-satin, organza, satin and grosgrain ribbons. The latter are perfect for just beginning needlewomen, because they singe well and are easy to cut. The “Marshmallow” flower is a beautiful and easy-to-make decoration. This master class on kanzashi marshmallows will definitely help lovers of needlework create a small masterpiece with their own hands.

— Young girls can wear as many kanzashi as their heart desires. Married ladies can afford one or two small flowers.

— Kanzashi flowers are worn for weddings, New Year, birthdays and other festive events.

— For each month of the year there is a separate type of kanzashi flower. 12 months - 12 different shades of colors.

What kanzashi should be like:

— Products must match the color of the kimono;

- Match eye color;

— Correspond to the status of the carrier.

Original marshmallow

How to make Japanese jewelry is described in this lesson.

To work you need:

— satin or grosgrain ribbon in several shades (2.5 cm wide);

- a lighter or candle for scorching the edges of the ribbon;

- scissors.

Note! The tape can be cut into the required lengths or gradually unrolled from the reel.

First you need to take a couple of ribbon pieces and connect them along the wrong side closer to the center. Use a lighter to connect.

The pattern must be located around the perimeter, as on the blue ribbon in the photo. To ensure that the pattern is inside the marshmallow, you need to turn the patterned ribbon face down.

Then you need to put the tape in the soldering area on the right side. Measure a 2.5 centimeter wide tape from the soldering point, approximately 5.5 centimeters. A tape with a width of 5 cm is approximately 10.5 cm. Along the marked line, bend the corner on the right at an angle of 90 degrees. Then roll it again from the right side to the left. Now a figure of an isosceles triangle should be formed from ribbons of a contrasting color. The result is shown in the photo below. Tuck the protruding tail back.

Then take the ribbon that should be on the left side and bend it to the bottom at an angle of 90 degrees. And roll the working tape to the top, aligning the bottom of this element.

With your right hand, wrap the ribbon from the left side to the right side again at an angle of ninety degrees.

To complete the marshmallow petal, you must first finish making a shape that looks like an isosceles triangle. To do this, take the working ribbon and roll it from the right to the left side, passing it among a pair of petals. You should get the following element, as in the photo.

Using a thread, secure another triangle-shaped figure made of ribbons, just like with the first one.

Now it's time to start working on the left side of the working thread. Bend the tape 90 degrees and then bend its main piece towards the top. Fold the ribbon at a 90-degree angle so that the ribbon goes to the right side.

Make another isosceles triangle. You will get the following element for marshmallows, which looks like this:

Take a thread and secure 3 already made petals.

Repeat this process 16 times on a 2.5 centimeter wide tape. If the tape is 5 cm wide - about twenty times. The more times, the more magnificent the marshmallow will be.

Having made all the petals, cut off the tail and burn the end. Pull the resulting petals together with a thread. Now all that remains is to combine all the created elements into one product. The kanzashi marshmallow mk is finished, the product is ready!

Good afternoon, readers and guests of the “Family and Childhood” website. Today I want to introduce you to completely new master classes on the “kanzashi” technique. And our very first lesson will be - creating elegant white and blue kanzashi marshmallows.

Kanzashi master classes are gaining popularity today. Craftswomen, manufacturing DIY jewelry, hair accessories and decorative elements for clothes and shoes are constantly looking for new options.

From ribbons of different textures (satin, grosgrain, brocade, satin, silk and others) you can create exquisite accessories by folding the parts in different ways, combining unusual colors, textures and varying the size of the petals.

Bows - marshmallows - are stylish elements of kanzashi. They are most often used to make elegant hair bands or attach such decorations to clips. But large marshmallows perfectly complement hoops, belts and other accessories.

If you are interested in the marshmallows (perhaps they will even remind you of bagels) shown in the final photo, then we suggest repeating the given master class to make the same decoration. In other colors, these kanzashi products are just as unique.

Elegant white and blue marshmallows.

For one flower you will need:

- 16 pieces each (5 by 5 cm) of white and blue satin ribbon for the bottom layer of the donut;

- 7 pieces (4 by 4 cm) of white satin ribbon for the top flower;

— a flower hugger measuring 1.5 cm in diameter and a rhinestone 0.8 cm;

- felt circles: 4 cm and 2.5 cm;

- an elastic band or another version of a hairpin and a felt rectangle 1 by 4 cm.

How to make marshmallows from MK ribbons

1 . To create a bottom layer reminiscent of a two-color marshmallow, prepare squares of white and blue satin ribbon of the same size (with a side of 5 cm).

2. To create one blank, fold the white and blue square in half diagonally.

3. Place the white square on the blue one and secure with a needle.

4 . Turn the white and blue triangle into a rhombus by lowering the two sharp corners of a two-layer square to a right angle.

5 . At the junction of the three corners, cut the diamond, stepping back half a centimeter. Solder the ends with a candle flame and hold the hot satin with tweezers.

6. For one kanzashi product you need to prepare 16 flat white and blue blanks.

7. To form a donut, insert the petals with sharp corners into the pockets of adjacent parts, additionally apply a drop of glue to securely fasten the parts.

8 . On the reverse side of the structure only blue triangles will be visible.

9 . To avoid problems with attaching the last part, divide all the workpieces in half. Form two designs consisting of 8 pieces.

10 . Fasten the two curved snakes with glue, inserting the first and last parts of each structure into each other.

eleven . Fold the squares with a side of 4 cm, prepared for creating the top flower, in half.

12 . Make a diamond-shaped white blank similarly to the previous case. But do not cut off the bottom corner, but squeeze the structure from both sides with your fingers to get a petal, the shape of which resembles a drop.

13 . Glue the petal in this position with glue.

14 . Prepare all 8 petals.

15 . Glue the white parts into a flower.

16 . When both tiers of the kanzashi product are ready, think about the type of hairpin.

17. If the choice falls on an elastic band, glue it with felt rectangle to a large 4 cm felt circle.

18 . Glue the white and blue donut to the felt with an elastic band.

19 . Glue a shiny center to the center of the white flower. Add a small felt circle to the place where the top flower will be attached.

20 . Top a blue and white bagel with a white flower.

If you exactly reproduce the given master class and use the same size fittings, you will get flowers with a diameter of 7 cm.

You can also come up with your own unique color combinations when creating similar decorations. All products will be exclusive.

Dedicated to making bows - new marshmallows using the kanzashi technique. Recently, satin marshmallow flowers have become a favorite among many craftswomen and their clients. They are simple in execution, have an airy shape; they can be made from satin and grosgrain ribbon; The width of the ribbon can also be different - 2.5 or 5 cm. Whatever type of marshmallow you choose, the interesting decoration will definitely appeal to the little fashionista and not only.

I would like to offer you several varieties of marshmallows. Let's start with the school version.

Marshmallow hairpin made from grosgrain ribbon 2.5 cm

For one hairpin we need:

  • 16 pieces of blue grosgrain ribbon with a pattern – 2.5*9 cm;
  • one blue felt circle with a diameter of 4 cm;
  • one white felt circle with a diameter of 4 cm;
  • blue glass cabochon with a pattern, diameter 2.5 cm;
  • rhinestone chain;
  • clamp,
  • glue.

Step-by-step description of the work:

1. Photo 1 shows all the material that will be useful to us. We cut the grosgrain ribbon into equal pieces of 9 cm. We process the edges of the ribbon with a lighter or over a candle flame. We cut out circles with a diameter of 4 cm from white and blue felt.

2. First, let's prepare the middle, since it will take a long time to dry. Glue a glass cabochon onto a blue felt base with hot glue.

3. Then carefully apply Moment Crystal glue along the edges and use tweezers to lay the chain. The size of the chain depends on how many rhinestones will surround the middle. Leave the middle for one hour, and then trim off the excess felt.

4. Let's start making the petals, they are made the same way. We take one piece of tape with the wrong side on it. We wrap one edge at a right angle and lower it down.

5. Turn the workpiece to the other side. Now we lift one edge up on one side, and the other on the opposite side. To keep the petal in place, you need to solder it on the side. It is better to use a thermal cutter, but you can get by with tweezers and a lighter. The petal is ready.

6. We will need 16 of these petals.

7. Glue the petals in a circle. Apply glue to the middle of the first petal (on both edges) and insert the second petal. Do this for one half of the marshmallow.

8. We assemble the second part in the same way.

9. Glue the two blanks together.

10. While we were making the petals, our center dried out. Now you can glue it to the center of the marshmallow using hot glue.

11. Since the size of the flower is about 9 cm, it is better to make it on a clamp. For this we will need: a clip 7.5 cm long, a felt circle of blue or white with a diameter of 4 cm and a felt rectangle 1 * 5 cm of the same color.

12. Apply a small drop of glue to the center of the rectangle, open the clamp and glue it to the front side. Then apply glue to the rectangle and the clamp and glue it in the center of the felt circle. Trim the edges of the rectangle (cut off the excess).

13. Glue our finished base to the wrong side of the marshmallow.

14. The decoration is ready. If you use a different color of ribbon, you can make a headband for little girls. The rhinestone chain, casting glitter in different directions, will attract the eyes of all passers-by to the marshmallow.

There are a lot of videos on making marshmallows on YouTube. For example, this simple 2.5 ribbon is suitable for beginners; using this MK you can make your first rubber bands with your own hands:

And here is this, more original double:

Two-color marshmallow with beads

For delicate mint pink marshmallows we will need:

  • 7 pieces of mint-colored grosgrain ribbon – 2.5*5 cm;
  • 10 pieces of grosgrain ribbon in soft pink color – 2.5*5 cm;
  • 17 white beads with a diameter of 8 mm and6 mm;
  • 2 felt bases of mint color with a diameter of 3 and 4 cm;
  • Rubber;
  • Satin or grosgrain ribbon 1.2*5 cm;
  • White half bead with a diameter of 1.2 cm;
  • Rhinestone chain in silver frame;
  • White felt circle with a diameter of 2 cm (for the middle).

How to create marshmallows step by step:

1. First of all, let's prepare all the material that may be useful to us.

2. Let's start making marshmallows from the middle. Apply Moment Crystal glue to a white felt base and glue a white half-bead and a rhinestone chain in a circle. After the glue has dried, trim off the excess felt. To remove lint, you can run a lighter along the edge.

3. Mint and pink petals are made the same way. Let's look at the example of mint. Cut a rectangle 2.5*5 cm, process the edges. Fold the piece in half to determine the middle. Then we lower the two upper edges down to the center. Fold the workpiece in half and solder the ends (do not cut anything).

4. In this way we make 7 mint petals and 10 pink petals.

5. Now we will work with a thread and a needle. We collect all the petals on a thread and pull them together. So far our marshmallow looks unclear.

6. Turn it over to the wrong side and also collect all the petals; there is no need to tighten the thread too much.

7. Turn it over to the front side again. We have a pyramid. Now let's start working with beads.

8. Take 17 white beads with a diameter of 8 mm. We will sew them into each petal, retreating 5-6 mm from the edge of the petal. When we have collected all the beads in a circle, we need to go through another circle with a thread (without beads). We do this for strength.

9. Now we make the second row of beads. This time we take a slightly smaller size - 6 mm. We sew beads under the first row, only between the petals.

10. Cut out a felt circle with a diameter of 3 cm. Apply hot glue along the edges (not the center) and glue it to the back of the marshmallow.

11. Now you need to give it the correct shape, make an airy marshmallow out of the pyramid. From the reverse side in the center we pierce the edge of the top of one of the petals with a needle, then we pierce the parallel petal and bring the needle to the wrong side and tighten the thread. We do this several times to fix the middle.

12. Glue the middle into the center of the marshmallow, press the middle well and hold it there for a minute. The decoration is ready. The size of such a cute marshmallow is about 5.5 cm. Therefore, the base can be anything: an elastic band, a clip, a click-clack hairpin or a brooch. And if you make several of these marshmallows and glue them onto a lace elastic band, you will get a decoration for a bun. But this is your fantasy. And we will make a marshmallow with an elastic band.

13. For this fastening we will need: a satin ribbon 1.2 * 5 cm, a mint felt circle with a diameter of 4 cm and an elastic band.

14. Make two cuts on the felt mug. Glue an elastic band in the middle between the cuts. Then we take the tape and stretch it through one cut, glue it to the elastic band and push it through the other cut. On the reverse side we glue both edges of the satin ribbon to the felt. The workpiece is ready.

15. Glue the blank to the marshmallow.

16. The multi-colored decoration is ready. The number of petals in a flower can be changed from 15 to 17. You can also play with colors. You can make them rainbow from leftover ribbon, or school ones can only be blue. Try, be creative and create your own unique jewelry!

This master class will teach you how to perform individual elements of kanzashi - triple sharp petals and unusual gramophone petals. The latter are usually used to make decorative elements called marshmallows. These hairpins are convenient - they will match any dress of your daughter, and you don’t have to think long about the look.

To decorate the clips, we will make two-tiered flowers, similar to seven-flowered flowers, only 10 petals will be used. The bottom layer is a traditional kanzashi flower made of sharp petals, the top layer is a multi-colored marshmallow. The fastening method is the clip proposed here, which is not universal; it can be replaced with an elastic band or another type of hair clip.

For one flower you need to take:

  • 10 types of satin ribbon squares 5 by 5 cm - 3 pcs. each color;
  • 10 white squares 5 by 5 cm;
  • thread with needle;
  • shiny center;
  • 3 felt circles – 2.5 cm (for marshmallows) and 3.5 cm (for the bottom flower and clip attachment);
  • metal hair clip (crocodile type);
  • candle, burner or lighter.

How to make kanzashi marshmallows on sharp petals:

  1. To create rainbow flowers, prepare a ribbon of 10 different shades, cut off squares with a side of 5 cm. Before modeling petals from ribbons, you must remove the threads sticking out on the satin, and a lighter or candle is suitable for this.
  2. Make triple pointed petals. The modeling process is shown here using pink squares as an example. All other preparations are performed in the same way. The outer and inner layers of each petal will be colored, the middle will be white. Take two pink and one white squares. Fold each diagonally and then again along the center line to create small isosceles triangles.
  3. Make a layered cake from triangular blanks. Place the parts on top of each other, moving each new layer 1 mm down and leaving a white triangle in the middle.
  4. Close the ends (sharp corners of the triangle). Glue with flame. Cut off about 0.5 cm from the attachment point.

  5. Also cut off the lower uneven edge with sharp scissors, also about 0.5 cm, and singe the cut.
  6. Make all 10 different colored sharp petals.
  7. Collect a multi-flowered flower from all 10 petals. To do this, you can use thread with a needle or glue.
  8. When the bottom flower is ready, start making the top multi-colored marshmallows. For the top layer, prepare 10 multi-colored squares with a side of 5 cm. The production of gramophones is shown using the example of a blue square; all other colors are prepared in the same way.

  9. Bend the square diagonally, aligning the corners clearly.
  10. Lower the two acute angles in the resulting isosceles triangle simultaneously towards the third angle and align them. Mentally mark the fold line in the resulting workpiece. In the resulting diamond, it should extend 1-2 mm below the side corners.
  11. Curve the tape along the marked line (the line should be on the outside). Then close the two halves of the line. This way you get a petal of the desired shape.
  12. Make 10 gramophone petals of different colors but the same size.

  13. Collect colorful marshmallows onto a string. The two main parts of the rainbow multicolor are ready.
  14. Glue a circle of felt with a diameter of 2.5 cm to the back of the top flower.
  15. Glue the smaller piece onto the larger one, matching the petals by color. Sharp corners should be visible evenly around the circumference from under the upper gramophones.
  16. Glue the second felt circle 3.5 cm to the bottom flower and prepare another one for attaching the crocodile.

  17. Glue the glitter center to the center of the flowers.
  18. Glue the hairpin to the resulting flower.

This is how you can easily make your daughter’s appearance beautiful. Such elegant, cheerful hairpins look beautiful, and they are made, in fact, from the remains of ribbons, so they can be considered a rational way to utilize the remains of kanzashi’s creativity.

Shared master class

Svetlana Sorokina

Our dear needlewomen, today I want to offer you a simple, but very beautiful version of bows. Using the kanzashi technique, I called it marshmallow, since they are very similar to marshmallows. With this decoration your little one will simply sparkle with joy.

Step-by-step master class on marshmallow rubber bands

Have a little patience, because the first time it may not work. But don’t worry, two or three blanks, and you’re almost a pro. And then everything will go like clockwork. In such bows, the color combination can be different, it all depends on your imagination. I will show you a combination of two colors, but you can use one, two or three. Marshmallow elastic bands from satin ribbons master class: we will start by preparing the material.

For one bow you will need:

  • satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide (white - 1 m, purple - 2 m);
  • beads 0.4 mm – 11 pcs.;
  • elastic band - 1 pc.;
  • base - satin 5 by 5 cm;
  • strip - white tape 2.5 cm;
  • hot melt adhesive – 1 pc.

So, let's begin.

First you need to measure purple strips 9 cm - 11 pcs., white 9 cm - 22 pcs. We singe the edges over a candle or lighter.

We take our blank and fold it in half with the front side. We put a small drop of hot melt glue in the middle and glue them together. If you don't have such glue, replace it with transparent glue, but then you will have to wait a little longer for it to stick well.

Now we turn our tape right side out, and we have a small triangle inside. Try to make small bends so that the petal is neat.

We fold the edges in half on each side to reveal our petal. And seal it over a candle or lighter.

Take a square of satin ribbon 5 by 5 cm and cut out a circle, this is the basis for the bow. You can use a ready-made felt base.

These are the blanks you should get.

Let's start assembling our elastic band, glue the petals to the base, slightly overlapping one on top of the other.

We glue the next circle a little lower, starting not where we finished, but where the edge is lower, in order to even it out.

We proceed to the white color, we use it to make the next circle.

Our middle consists of three petals glued together. Carefully glue it to the center and press. Try to make the middle not very high, since our bow is already voluminous.

We glue the beads onto the glue, only onto the white petals. If you wish, you can glue it on all the petals. We glue it very quickly, we need to glue it securely and strongly.

Our beauty is almost ready, all that remains is to attach the elastic band. To do this, I use a strip of white tape and glue it with hot glue. If your baby has small hair, don’t be upset, because such beauty can be made with a hair clip.

Our elastic bands are ready, you can try them on.
