DIY slipper patterns. Interesting models of homemade slippers, sewn by yourself. Patterns with sizes of home slippers master class

Now stores offer a wide variety of shoes for the house, but it happens that you don’t like any model. In this case, you can ask how to sew slippers with your own hands, decide on the style, material and get to work. This approach allows you to create original shoes that fit perfectly on your feet.

Material selection

Before sewing slippers, you need to choose a fabric. The material for making house shoes should be selected based on your own preferences, as well as the season of use of the product. For sewing can be used:

  • fleece;
  • jeans;
  • natural or artificial fur;
  • felt;
  • felt;
  • dense durable cloth;
  • leather.

To sew warm slippers for the winter, fur, felt, and felt are suitable. For the summer, you can make shoes from denim, cloth or leather. Demi-season slippers for children are made from jeans, flannel or leather with a fleece lining.

For the top

Before you sew slippers with your own hands, you should choose the right material. The upper of the shoe should be wear-resistant and breathable. At the same time, it is necessary that the material is pleasant to the touch, because house shoes are designed for maximum relaxation and rest. If the product is planned to be used in cool weather, then the material should be preferred to be warming. For summer, accordingly, the fabric should be well breathable.

For the upper part of the slippers, leather with a lining is best suited; in addition, you can duplicate the part with a soft filler (sintepon, batting), and then quilt it. If the top of the slipper is formed from two halves, then they must be stitched together and also connected with braid.

For the sole

The sole material for indoor shoes must be selected as resistant to abrasion as possible. The following types are used:

  • felt;
  • skin;
  • felt;
  • linoleum;
  • cork sheet;
  • polyurethane.

You need to choose a suitable sole based on the upcoming degree, as well as the place of use. Linoleum does not wear out for a long time, but over time it can lose flexibility or even break. Thick leather is suitable for use on carpets or other fairly soft surfaces; such shoes are quite light and pleasant to use.
Felt, felt - inexpensive, environmentally friendly materials, do not allow your feet to freeze, do not cause allergies, but are afraid of water and have low wear resistance. Polyurethane is lightweight, abrasion resistant, and quite flexible. However, it can quickly become deformed. Cork is great for the soles of slippers; it is light, durable, flexible, and wear-resistant. But this material is not so easy to find; it is found in specialized stores.

Indoor slippers require multi-layer soles. To do this, identical parts are cut out from different materials. The insole (top of the plantar part) is cut out of sawn wood, suede or cloth. Between the insole and the sole it is necessary to lay another layer of cardboard or thin foam rubber. All parts are connected with strapping or glued.

Decor

Decorating products depends on taste preferences. Traditionally used:

  • ribbon bows;
  • pom-poms;
  • embroidery elements;
  • decorative buttons;
  • applications.

Housewives often prefer to use parts that can be cut from old unnecessary wardrobe items. Practical needlewomen, when throwing away worn-out items, leave behind what may be useful in the future. In such situations, decorative tassels from an old bag, beautiful buttons from a coat, bows from a child’s jacket, small metal decorations from a worn-out sweater, etc. can be used to decorate house shoes.

Accessories, threads and tools

To make durable slippers, you will need special threads. To stitch the sole part, strong nylon threads No. 470K, 565K are needed. For the remaining seams, cotton 6, 9, 12 folds No. 30, 40, 50 are suitable.

It is best to grind all shoe parts using nylon threads No. 65K, 95K.

You will also need special tools. The top parts and edging can be made using a sewing machine, but the top and bottom of the slipper will have to be joined by hand. For this purpose it is better to purchase a special awl. You can find it in hardware stores. With this tool you can quickly sew strong, high-quality house slippers from any material.

Making a pattern

Experienced needlewomen recommend that novice seamstresses try to make simple models of flip-flops. These can be open or closed products made from material that is available. One of the most important elements is making your own slipper pattern.

The technique for making patterns is not complicated. To create a slipper pattern, it is better to use old shoes that were as comfortable as possible. To begin with, the sole of the damaged shoe should be traced on cardboard or thick paper. If there are no house shoes suitable for the sample, then you can outline the foot. You just need to leave a small allowance so that the finished product is not tight. It is important to remember that the patterns for the right and left sneakers are different. Therefore, in order to cut the parts correctly, the left template should be turned over.

If you plan to add a layer that forms the rigidity of the insole, then the part from it should be made 1.5–2 cm smaller around the perimeter. This is necessary so that it does not get into the edging of the sole.

According to the prepared pattern, it is necessary to cut out all the intended layers. To do this, contours are applied to the material, leaving seam allowances. Next, it remains to cut out the elements. Dense thick material is used for the sole. When all the parts are ready, they need to be assembled and sewn. If desired, you can stick a low heel under the heel.

Master class on making different models

There are different models of indoor slippers that you can make with your own hands. Among them are bunny boots, ballet flats and mouse slippers. Making them is quite simple.

Bunny boots

Comfortable, very cute house boots can not only warm your feet, but also lift your spirits. At the same time, it is not difficult to sew such slippers from fleece; even a novice seamstress can do it. It is enough to follow the algorithm:

  1. The first step is to choose the right fabric. For such house shoes, soft, dense fabrics are used: plush, velor, fleece. The sole is covered with artificial or natural leather. The shape of the slippers is given at will, this is done using padding polyester.
  2. Next, you need to prepare the tools: paper for patterning slippers, a pencil, pins for chopping parts, scissors. You will also need a sewing machine.
  3. Afterwards, you should make a pattern for the house slippers, the main parts, ears and tail, leaving an allowance.
  4. Slippers require two or three layers of material. The top one is made of velor, the middle one is made of padding polyester (optional) and has an inner lining.
  5. The sole part is made of leather.
  6. The parts are chopped off and sewn together individually.
  7. The ears are cut and sewn in advance. They are inserted when stitching the main parts.
  8. The blanks are turned right side out and soft folds are formed along the bootleg.
  9. The boot is then connected to the sole.
  10. Next, the outer and inner layers are cleaved along the wrong side.
  11. The parts are stitched along the edge, leaving a small hole in order to turn the product right side out.
  12. When the boot is turned inside out, the hole is stitched.
  13. The tails are made separately. To do this, two circles are sewn together with the right sides facing inward. You should leave a hole for stuffing with padding polyester, then sew it up.
  14. The tails are sewn along the central part of the back seam.

It’s easy to make these slippers with your own hands from fleece. At the same time, they will suit everyone's taste. Children especially like this model.

Ballet shoes

Ballet flats are a fashionable and stylish solution for home shoes. To make these slippers you will need:

  • thick fabric;
  • cotton material for lining;
  • interlining;
  • artificial leather or thick felt for the sole;
  • padding polyester;
  • braid for processing the product along the upper edge;
  • linen elastic.

Manufacturing instructions consist of the following steps:

  1. The first thing you need to do is cut out the necessary parts in two copies (for the right and left sneakers). The upper part is cut out from the main fabric, the sole and upper part from the lining, the sole and upper part from non-woven fabric, the sole from artificial leather or felt, and the sole from padding polyester. At the same time, an allowance of 1 cm is made for the main and lining fabrics, and 0.5 cm for artificial leather and padding polyester.
  2. The parts cut from the main material are reinforced with non-woven fabric on the reverse side.
  3. Next, you need to sew separately the back seams on the upper parts made of the base material and the lining. Iron the allowance parts.
  4. The upper elements from the main fabric must be folded wrong sides with similar elements from the lining. Baste the edges along the top.
  5. The upper parts are placed on the front soles made of leather with the lining side and swept away.
  6. Next you need to stitch the upper to the sole parts. The seams are laid around the perimeter of the sole.
  7. The parts left for the seams must be notched at the curved areas, pressed with an iron and manually attached with hidden stitches.
  8. On top of the sole made of leather or felt, it is necessary to stitch the sole part of the lining manually using hidden seams, tucking the edges inward. In advance, padding polyester should be laid between the parts of the lining and the main fabric. Next, turn the slippers onto your face and press the seams with an iron.
  9. The upper parts must be treated with bias tape, leaving a portion for placing the elastic. Thread a linen elastic band into the resulting drawstring.

The ballet slippers are ready. Such comfortable house shoes can be made both for independent use and for gifting.

Mouse slippers

These original slippers are easy and quick to sew. The material can be old felt boots, leather from unwanted products, suede or thick cloth.

If you make the ears of a different shape, you can create cat slippers.

For production you will need:

  • fabric (jeans, felt, drape, etc.);
  • leather for the sole;
  • foam rubber, batting or padding polyester;
  • needles and nylon threads;
  • threads for embroidering a mouse's face;
  • lining fabric (fleece or faux fur);
  • paper, pencil;
  • pins.

The manufacturing process includes the following steps:

  1. First you need to make a pattern - put the shoes on the fabric and trace the sole.
  2. Then the top of the slipper is cut out. To do this, wrap the top of the shoe and trace it, cut out the template. Please remember that the right and left patterns are different.
  3. The result should be a couple of pieces each from the main upper fabric, pieces from the lining for the inner parts, elements for the insole and sole. It also requires four pieces for the ears.
  4. The ears must be sewn with a small, neat seam using contrasting threads. Afterwards you need to embroider the muzzle, nose, and attach beads or buttons instead of eyes.
  5. Attach the ears with pins, make a fold at the bottom to add volume and maintain shape, then add seams.
  6. Next, fleece should be applied to the front part of this part and stitched, retreating a centimeter.
  7. Sew the insole in the same way and sew it to the upper part.
  8. On the part with the muzzle, you need to place the plantar part face to face and stitch it, retreating 0.7–1 cm. The bottom remains unstitched, foam rubber must be placed there.
  9. The products are turned inside out, and foam rubber, batting or padding polyester is placed inside.
  10. The parts are carefully pinned and stitched.

The slippers are ready. Children will be delighted with these shoes. Even adult fashionistas will not remain indifferent when they see this cute model.

Sewing house shoes yourself is not difficult, as long as you have the desire. The advantage of such products is that the design comes up with a craftswoman, so these can be unique men's slippers, products for guests or children's models. And if you use old unnecessary things for sewing, you can also save a lot.

Prepare a pattern of all the details
Sew ears

In order to sew them, you can take a special pattern under the cut for printing on a thermal transfer. Its use greatly simplifies and speeds up the process and reduces to almost zero all possible difficulties and errors when cutting parts.
In addition to the pattern, you will need light felt for transferring the transfer, any suitable (I only had white today) felt for the insole and, my main inspiration for this week, a cork sheet. In this case, 3 mm thick. Well, glue, I liked using “Moment Crystal” the most.

First of all, let's transfer the pattern to felt. Due to the fact that recently I have been asked more questions about translation technology, I will allow myself to say a little more about it today.
First, we will need to place the pattern with the front side in the felt and heat the iron to almost maximum temperature. Using a hot iron, we begin to carefully iron the sheet, not missing the edges or corners.

In my opinion, it is better to overheat the iron somewhat and, while ironing, notice that the felt has begun to melt (this is not an instantaneous process and you will always have time to slightly reduce the heat, nothing bad will happen), than to iron everything with a cold iron and get a fragmentary translated image, the more thereby ruining both the pattern and the felt.

We stroke the entire structure for about a minute, then cool it to a slightly warm state and remove the top checkered layer of paper. The picture has been translated.

Cut out the details of the slippers without seam allowances.

Since I made the pattern as universal as possible, I adhered to the principle “more is better than less.” Therefore, at this stage of work, I recommend trying it on at least approximately and if it turns out to be larger than necessary, trim it lateral sides as shown in the photo. As a rule, there is no need to reduce the size of the top and bottom, only if these are slippers for a baby.

Place the patterns for both slippers on a sheet of felt. You don’t have to take white anymore, you can use any color.

And we attach the parts with a semicircular seam. Only along the top edge.

Now we cut out the details along the contour, getting a double top for future slippers.

Now we need a pattern for the insole. It's very easy to get. It is enough to simply trace your foot on a piece of paper with a decent margin, or simply take any ready-made slippers that you consider the most comfortable and trace the sole with them.

We only outline the insole, but do not cut it out. I found it more convenient to sew in this order.
Now we baste the double top of the slipper. We baste in two approaches, starting each of them from the middle of the sock.

It will be very easy to stitch the top using sour cream. After machine stitching, you can pull out the basting thread.

Now the slippers with the insole can be cut out, retreating 2-3 mm from the edge of the stitching. We do the same with the second slipper.

Now it's time to begin the final stage. We will make the soles for slippers. After various searches for suitable material, I settled on cork. As practice has shown, this is a fairly easy-to-use material, very light. It is very practical to wear, especially in the glued version. Cork has good shock-absorbing properties and even a thin layer is sufficient to make the slippers comfortable to use.
Take the glue and properly lubricate the bottom surface of the felt insole. The glue, among other things, perfectly stabilizes the cork, reducing its fragility and preventing the possibility of cracks appearing when bent in the future.

Glue the insole to the cork sheet. We cut it out quite roughly, just to be able to install the clips.

The cork glues well and quickly, after the glue has firmly set, you can remove the clips and cut out the slippers along the contour of the insole.

You can stop at this stage of work or additionally sew the perimeter of the slipper on a sewing machine. The cork is very easy to sew, despite its thickness.

That's all, the slippers are ready. In the next photo I tried to demonstrate that cork glued to felt is quite strong when bending.

The slippers turned out like this:

A universal option. The slippers are sewn from cotton fabric; non-woven/dublerin and synthetic padding are used for strengthening and volume. Let's immediately talk about the material for the sole. If it is important that it does not slip, you can use leather or eco-leather, a special material for the soles (as a rule, it is natural or synthetic fabric with rubber pimples), take microporous rubber (foamiran) or purchased insoles made of material with suitable properties. In other cases, any dense material will do so that the sole holds its shape. By the way, purchased insoles can also serve as a reinforcer for the soles of slippers (the soles need to be strengthened, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to walk).

You will need:

Fabric for the front and back sides of slippers;

Synthetic padding for the volume of the top of the slippers;

Quite thick interlining or other material to strengthen the sole;

Sole material or purchased insoles;

Paper, pencil and scissors for patterns;

Fabric scissors;

Sewing machine and thread.

Step 1

First you need to make a pattern for the sole and top of the slippers. How to do it, . If you are sewing slippers with open toes, as in our example, mark the neckline as well.

Step 2

We cut out the details. For each slipper you need: 1 piece of material for the sole, 1 piece of sole made of padding, 1 piece of the sole made of fabric, 2 pieces of the top of the slippers made of fabric (1 piece of fabric for the lining and 1 piece of fabric for the outer side), 1 piece of the top of the slippers made of padding polyester.

Step 3

Fold the upper parts of the fabric slippers right sides inward and sew along the long sides. Cut triangles in the middle at the top and bottom (see photo), not reaching 2 mm from the seams.

Step 4

Turn out the parts of the top of the slippers, iron them and place the padding polyester inside.

Step 5

Attach the top of the slipper to the fabric sole piece with clips (see photo).

Attach the bottom part of the sole on top with the wrong side up (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.

Step 6

Sew the pieces around the perimeter, leaving an opening for turning. Cut out the corners on the toe and heel (see photo). Repeat for the second slipper.

Step 7

Turn the slippers inside out and insert the seal inside. Repeat for the second one.

Step 8

Topstitch the bottom of the slippers while sewing up the holes. Ready.

2. Cloth slippers with closed toe

These slippers are similar to the previous ones. They are distinguished by a closed toe and the presence of ribbon decor. Detailed master class.

3. DIY felt slippers

Cozy, warm felt slippers are hand-sewn from just one piece!

You will need:

Printer and paper to print the pattern;

Scissors;

Quite thick strong threads and needle for hand sewing.

Step 1

Print and cut out the template (pattern and size chart).

Step 2

Cut out 2 mirror pieces from felt, transfer and also make T-shaped cuts.

Step 3

Fold the slipper and sew over the edge by hand. First, we sew the vertical seam on the heel, without sewing 1.2-2 cm from the bottom (depending on the size of the slippers). Slightly cut the felt by 1.5-2 cm in 2 places on the heel to create a flap. Round its corners. Fold the flap up and sew it on. Sew a long seam. Fold the flap over and (if desired) sew it.

6. Terry slippers made from old flip flops (flip flops)

Cute slippers made of terry cloth are sewn on the basis of old flip-flops. As a fabric for slippers, you can use, for example, a terry towel. For recommendations on choosing material for the sole, see Master Class 1.

You will need:

Terry fabric;

Unnecessary flip-flops;

Sole material;

Sintepon;

Pencil or fabric marker;

Tape measure;

Scissors;

Sewing machine and thread.

Step 1

Release the flip-flops from the straps. Trace the soles onto the material for the bottom of the slippers (faux leather is used here).

Step 2

Add 1.5 cm to seam allowances on all sides and cut out the pieces.

Step 3

Using the cut out parts of the sole as templates, cut out the same parts from terry cloth and padding polyester.

Step 4

Measure the sole around the perimeter + measure its thickness.

Cut out 2 side pieces each from terry cloth and padding polyester: add 5 cm to the resulting length of the strip, and 2-3 cm to the width.

Step 5

Outline the pattern for the top part of the slippers. Read more about how to do this.

Winter has always been famous not only for the cold weather outside, but also for the cozy, warm atmosphere in the house. At such a time, you want to warm not only yourself, but also those who are near you. So why not sew warm slippers for your household? From this article you will learn several ways to sew fur slippers with your own hands; the patterns will help you quickly understand all the nuances; in the end, you will spend a minimum of time and money on this, patterning sheepskin chuns. You will learn how to sew life-size boots at home and how to sew children's slippers.

Cozy home accessory

For the upcoming work, you should stock up on some materials:

  • The finished pattern - the process of making it will be described below.
  • Soft leather - will be used as an insole.
  • Fleece.
  • Decorative elements as desired.

Important! Fur can be either artificial or natural.

To make a pattern, you can use two methods:

  • Print the finished one, then adjust it to fit your leg or the leg of the person for whom the garment is being made.
  • Take old slippers and cut out two parts along the contours - this method is much easier than the previous one.

Now you can proceed directly to manufacturing the product. In order to sew fur slippers with your own hands and make patterns, you must follow this algorithm:

  1. Take one of the parts and cut it into two equal parts.
  2. Attach the resulting parts to a sheet of paper and trace them.
  3. Now you need to measure the width of the flat part of the toe of the shoe, and then mark it with noticeable dots, setting aside 40 mm from the edge. After this, you need to measure the length of the insole.
  4. Glue a rectangular piece to the resulting spout and cut out the middle in it. As a result, you will get a suitable pattern.
  5. Cut out 6 main parts according to the patterns, adding 4 cm for allowances.
  6. Sew the fur and fleece parts together with allowances so that the fur is inside the product. Then sew on the fleece sole - there should be no allowance on it.
  7. Insert the fur blank into the fleece blank, sew, leaving space so that the product can be turned inside out (it is necessary that the fur is inside the slipper).
  8. Sew up the product, sew on a leather insole.
  9. Decorate the slippers as you wish.

UGG slippers made from an old sheepskin coat

If you have some old sheepskin coat in your house that you are about to throw away, then do not rush to do so. You can give this seemingly unnecessary thing a new life, for example, sew slippers from an old sheepskin coat.

For further work you will need:

  • An old sheepskin coat.
  • Leather for the insole.
  • Ready-made patterns.
  • Durable thick threads.
  • Decor elements.

Sewing master class

The process of their manufacture is not as complicated as it seems at first glance:

  • The first step is to create a pattern for the insoles. To do this, just trace your foot or the foot of the person for whom you are sewing slippers.
  • Transfer the resulting sketch to the prepared sheepskin coat.
  • Make the side parts of house shoes in a similar way.

Important! When cutting out the details, you need to take into account the width of the ankle and the standard size of your shoes.

  • Transfer the patterns to the sheepskin coat material, leaving approximately 1.5 cm for seams.
  • Cut out the intended blanks and begin to sew them together, using prepared strong threads.
  • Decorate the finished product to your liking.

The slippers are ready!

Classic slippers

After making a pattern for the sole of the shoe and its top (this time it is as simplified as possible), you can proceed to making fur slippers with your own hands:

  • Cut the soles, adding 5 mm for allowances.
  • Reduce the gasket pattern by 7 mm along its entire contour - this is necessary to avoid thickening of the seams.
  • Glue the leather soles together and carefully trim all the edges.
  • Glue the sole along the edges to the upper part of the slippers with the seam facing out, not forgetting to align the control marks.

Important! If the model is closed, then you need to additionally add the excess length of the part on top along the toe part. If it is open, it is necessary to adjust the length of the upper part so that the foot is held tightly in the slipper.

  • Connect the top of the product and the sole.

The product is ready!

Important! The seam can be covered with a decorative leather braid or other decorative element that suits the style. To ensure that the finishing elements are well secured, you can use a glue gun, which is designed specifically for needlework.

Let's talk to you, readers, about how to sew slippers. I’ve been sewing my own slippers for a long time now because store-bought ones aren’t enough. I wear my slippers with pleasure, and they last much longer. To sew slippers I use old things: fabric from an old coat, woolen items, soles from slippers. My slippers can be washed and will not get damaged.

I sew slippers in one evening. If you need such indoor slippers, then read this article.
We are preparing material for slippers: an old coat made of drape, soles from old slippers or ready-made felt insoles, woolen or flannelette fabric for the inside of the slippers, braid or bias tape made of strong material for finishing the edges.

You will also need a sewing machine, or perhaps sew by hand. Thread number 10 for the sole and thread for sewing the top. Scissors. Materials for decoration.

Sequence of work

Preparing the pattern. The photo shows a pattern of size 37, which can be increased or decreased according to the leg.

We cut the top and insoles of the slippers along the grain thread. Under the top part we cut a second part from soft wool or felt fabric (old things: sweaters, blouses, trousers).

You can also cut out double pieces for lifting under the heel.

We cut the bias tape at an angle of 45 degrees so that it lies more neatly on the edge of the sneaker.

Sew the details under the heels

We connect the upper part of the slipper with the lower part and sew it at a distance of 1 cm from the edge. We trim the bottom edge to 2-3 mm so that it does not interfere with stitching. We process it with bias tape.

We baste the upper part to the footprint, aligning the middle on the toe. Stitching on a typewriter.
We baste the bias tape and sew it on. We do not fold the lower part of the binding, because it will be under the sole.

Sew the details under the heels

Now we take the sole and sew on the upper part of the slipper by hand.

We decorate slippers in any way: with a flower, a button, braid, applique. This step can be done earlier when sewing the top.

And now a little advice: if your slippers slip on linoleum, then glue pieces of leather onto the sole and you will not slip. I've been doing this ever since I was injured in a slip.

Happy crafting!
