It is not recommended to apply Exoderil varnish over a decorative coating, only for preventive purposes, when visiting places with a high risk of fungal infection. In case of treatment, the drug is applied only to the cleaned nail plate.

I applied the cream to the skin around the damaged nails to prevent further spread of the infection and prevent secondary infection. In a couple of antifungal agents, they finally defeated the fungus in a month and a half, scraping gave a negative result.
The nail plate is restored very slowly, but the process is ongoing. I did not notice any accelerated growth of healthy nails. But the part that has already grown back has a normal color, is absolutely even, and feels strong and smooth to the touch. With the application of varnish everything is as simple as shelling pears, you don’t have to wait long for complete drying. Theoretically, the varnish is also suitable for use on hands.

Used as monotherapy for minor lesions

A very expensive antifungal varnish, but quite effective. The downside is that it does not cope with all fungal infection pathogens, so before starting treatment you simply need to get tested. Otherwise, your wallet may lose weight in vain. And you definitely can’t do it with just one varnish. You will have to purchase some other external product such as a cream, ointment or gel to apply to the skin around the affected nails. It was on the nail plates that the varnish was used as monotherapy, but this can only be done if at least a third of the nail remains healthy.
The varnish works very cleverly, it has a cumulative effect and contributes to the physical destruction of the fungal structures. Microorganisms lose their ability to reproduce and quickly die. After recovery, I regularly use varnish as a preventive measure due to the fact that I often visit the pool and gym. I use Exoderil instead of a regular base for pedicures, and apply regular varnish on top. Outwardly everything looks as usual. But during the treatment process, nothing can be applied over the varnish; this also applies to false nails. The brush for applying varnish is very inconvenient; you need to have straight arms and take a long time to adapt to it.

The most expensive antifungal varnish

A good thing for treating fungus. The varnish immediately stopped the further spread of the infection. If you start treatment on time, you will be able to save your nails and will not have to cut out the damaged nail plate. The duration of treatment with varnish is prescribed by a doctor, on average it is a month. In severe cases, this period is extended to six months. A month was enough for me, during which time the damaged nails stopped crumbling and peeling, gradually acquired a normal color, and the nasty yellowness went away. The unpleasant smell quickly disappeared.
I applied the polish not only to the top of the nail, but also under the protruding edge on the inside. Be sure to cover the entire nail, not just the problematic part. The varnish is valuable because it promotes the accumulation of active substances in the nail plate; the therapeutic effect remains for a long time after discontinuation. The varnish also penetrates into the deep layers of the nail; it contains substances that contribute to this.
The varnish does not have a strong unpleasant smell, dries quickly enough, and on the nails after complete drying it looks like a regular transparent varnish. The main drawback is the price, this is one of the most expensive anti-fungal varnishes at the moment.

Why varnish, if the release form is a liquid without the smell of acetone, I thought, opening and shaking the bottle, everything is simple - this is just a marketing ploy with an emphasis on DEEP PENETRATION INTO THE INNER LAYER OF THE NAIL.
The nail does not recover, as you might think when reading the annotation, a new nail simply grows. In their primary effect, such products have a difficult task: gently remove the nail, ensure the growth of a new and healthy nail, and heal the nail bed from infection.
Initially, I thought that the effect was like fluoride varnish for teeth - you cover it with varnish with a brush, it creates a protective, dense, visible layer, preventing further destruction of the nail, but here it’s just an oily liquid that needs to be wiped off.
Regarding the relief of irritation, everything is clear in this regard, the skin around the nail is moisturized and stops itching. I’m still treating my legs, it’s very scary to let them go, I’m doing everything possible to heal my legs, but I think I’ll have to change the drug.

The fungus affected several fingernails, so I chose Exoderil in the form of varnish. It is most convenient to use, it works for a long time, since the varnish covers the damaged nail plate and has an effect for several days. Then you need to repeat the application.
The active component of the drug is naftifine.
I like the idea itself - “fungal varnish”. This form of release makes application easier and should guarantee high treatment effectiveness.
In fact, I identified some shortcomings of the drug:
1. high cost and small bottle volume (2.5 and 5 ml) - treatment of nail fungus takes more than one month, so you have to constantly spend money on antifungal drugs;
2. despite the popularity of the drug, I cannot talk about its high effectiveness;
3. a healthy nail, after using varnish, grows deformed, which indicates that the fungal infection has not been completely destroyed;
4. You need to use it for at least 6-7 months; if you stop using it earlier, the fungus will begin to actively spread again.
From my own experience, I can say that it is advisable to combine the use of varnish with any other antifungal drug to enhance the effect and save money.
